The Split Rock of Moses/Horeb

I’ve drawn the first of the two rocks that Moses struck. It was from the first year of Israel’s coming out of Egypt, and into Arabia (now Saudi Arabia). It was struck but once, as in Isaiah 53:4, “Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.”

This rock is approximately four stories tall. Christian archeologists believe that this is the actual rock that Moses struck and split – proofs such as Moses’ Alter, the Twelve Pillars, The Golden Calf Alter, a very large ancient dry lake bed that surrounds the Split Rock, and all in an area that gets an average of 1/2 inches of rain each year. The water that gushed out made rocks smoother in its path. This rock is not far from Mount Sinai.
