Advent Week 2 – Peace

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:34

At Jesus’s first advent He didn’t come to bring political peace on earth, but peace between God and man, which is where true peace begins. This clarifies the differences between His first and second advent. It also brings the metaphorical “sword,” symbolizing division and conflict, forcing people to choose between believing Him and rejecting Him, causing conflict even within households.

These are interesting symbols, Joan, the rainbow and the dove, reminding us of Noah and the flood and the promise and peace between God and man, and then a sword promising future judgment delayed for so long for those who still reject the light of the world. Very interesting
