Christmas Adam 2025

My brother-in-law calls the day before Christmas Eve, “Christmas Adam” because Adam came before Eve… So for fun, here is another post for our Advent project this year.

…….

I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness“. John 12:46.

One thing I love about Christmas is the number of ways light is displayed. From colorful red, green, blue, yellow, and white lights that decorate neighborhoods, the glow of a Christmas tree, or the advent candles that get lit on dining room tables that get brighter and brighter as Christmas approaches – they all are tiny pointers to the true light that has come into the world. The true light is not sentimental, but powerful, holy, and casts the full colors and brightness of the spectrum. Jesus Christ is the true light. He shines through our dreary circumstances and fuels our imaginations. He is heaven breaking through, pushing away shadows, twinkling among branches, and from the soft oranges and blues in candlelight to the magnificent purples and crimsons of the sunrise, He is guiding us home.

Wow, I love all the colors! Starting with black paper—or what appears to be—makes a very dramatic effect for the whole experience here.

When I was a kid, I was always bummed that heaven seemed to be all about white. I couldn’t figure out why God would give us so many beautiful colors and then not use them. I love the way this piece and your statement highlights the way God uses color and light/white together. Love it, Karina!

I love the colors in that candle and the roughness in the lines. Because of the smallness of the page it comes across as chalk.
